Thanks to a generous gift from Koren and Mike Furrey, Wide Receivers Coach of our hometown team the Chicago Bears, Kamryn was able to attend CHAT’s five-week intensive summer literacy and social communication program!
Kamryn began the program avoiding reading and writing tasks at any cost; by the end, he was volunteering to read and write, and using resources to spell, write sentences, and answer questions. He now approaches reading and writing with confidence, and even offers to help his peers!
Kamryn also made great social communication strides this summer. When he came to us, he struggled to identify his feelings or advocate for his needs. By the end of program, he had improved his self-awareness and self-regulation by identifying feelings and using various calming tools. He feels so proud and happy about his new-found confidence and enjoys showing off his skills!
