Maya is a sweet and friendly seven-year-old. She loves being around people and is especially close to her family, including their dog, Fendi. She enjoys dancing, gymnastics, and swimming, and looks forward to going to school where she can socialize with her friends.
But Maya worked hard to become the social butterfly she is today.
Maya started receiving speech therapy through Early Intervention for her language delay when she was two years old. Those therapists were nice and friendly, but in her mom’s words, “it just didn’t click for her.”

When she first started therapy, Maya had only a couple of words and sounds and dreaded coming to speech. Ms. Hannah took the time to bond with Maya, who over time went from kicking and screaming on her way into sessions to asking to come to speech on her days off.
