Kristin Langdon Phillips

SLP Advisory Board Member

Kristin Langdon Phillips, MA CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 17 years of clinical experience and currently serves Avery County Schools in North Carolina as an SLP in secondary education. Previously, she held a Clinical Educator position at Appalachian State University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. In this position, she collaborated with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety to provide SLP services to four correctional institutions in North Carolina. The mission of that unique program was to provide services to inmates who participated in education activities, so that they could become responsible and productive citizens who could effectively manage their incarceration and make contributions to their community upon release. In Kristin’s words, “My professional purpose was to work with those who many have thrown away and long since forgotten. The correlation between incarceration and receptive/expressive language delays is huge. I was very grateful to have graduate students helping me navigate these obstacles.” Kristin holds a BA in Communication Disorders and a MA in Communications Sciences and Disorders, both from Appalachian State University.
